Once deployed into Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO), CMS-03 will move into its final geostationary orbit, about 36,000 km above Earth, where it will appear stationary relative to the planet and continuously cover the Indian subcontinent and the surrounding oceans.

It enables secure voice, video, and data links between ships, submarines, aircraft, and land-based command centers.
